Examination, Diagnosis, Treatment Planning, and Oral Lesion Screening
Prosthodontists are recognized as the diagnosis and treatment planning experts. Identification of the cause of oral deterioration is a key element to any dental treatment in order to stop the progression of diseases, minimize its impact, develop an effective treatment strategy, and prevent future recurrence of diseases.
Our practice incorporates an oral cancer examination and screening for any “Bumps or Lumps”. This exam improves the ability to identify abnormal tissue. Early detection and treatment of potentially cancerous tissue can minimize or eliminate the disfiguring effects of oral cancer and possibly save your life.
People at risk are those who use tobacco and alcohol, as well as anyone over 40 years of age. However, statistics show that over 25% of oral cancer patients do not exhibit any of these risk factors and this year alone over 30,000 North Americans will be diagnosed with oral cancer. As with any type of cancer, early detection is the most critical factor in defeating this disease.
Preventive and Maintenance

To maintain the high level of dental health obtained with the treatment rendered, it is of utmost importance to meticulously follow the recommended home care instructions daily.
A maintenance recall frequency will be recommended, depending on your specific needs. The preventive maintenance appointments allow us to determine the stability of your dental health and intercept any minor problems before they become major ones. When treated and maintained properly, long-lasting and predictable results are expected.

Dental Implants
A dental implant replaces the missing tooth’s root. When Indicated, a dental implant provides a complete and beautiful solution for improving the smile. it also helps prevent negative consequences of losing teeth.
A dental implant can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple missing teeth or to replace all the teeth.
If you have only one missing tooth, a dental crown on a dental implant is probably the best choice. A crown on a dental implant looks and functions very much as the missing tooth did.
If you are missing multiple teeth, dental implants to support a dental bridge or to support a partial denture are highly recommended.  replacing missing teeth can prevent adjacent teeth from drifting into the missing gap.
The jawbone shrinks after the teeth are lost making your face appear prematurely older and missing teeth creates an unattractive smile if the missing teeth show when you smile.
If you are missing all your teeth, tired of dentures moving around in your mouth, and think denture adhesive is bothersome, dental implants solution may be right for you.
A fixed denture replacement (sometimes called permanent dentures) that is supported by several implants could be the solution to your problem. By using dental implants to secure the permanent dentures, the need for denture adhesive is a thing of the past. Another option could be the use of fewer implants to retain a complete denture (complete removable denture retained by implants). this option will also help secure your denture and improves your quality of life.
Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is very popular. Nothing is better than a bright white smile!
While there are a variety of consumer teeth whitening products available on the market today - many touting themselves "instant whiteners" - results vary greatly for each individual. For best results (obtaining the whitest smile possible, even coloration, and other factors), whitening should be undertaken by specialists.
There are two main methods of whitening. The first method is in-office and involves applying a high concentration of whitening agent for a short period of time. A light-cured protective barrier is carefully painted on the gums and papilla (the tips of the gums between the teeth) to ensure the bleaching agent only reacts with teeth and keeps the gums and papilla untouched. This in-office method takes about 1.5 hours and can produce immediate results.
The other method involves using a thin mouthguard or strip to hold a low concentration of whitening agent next to the teeth for as long as several hours per day for a period of 5 to 14 days. This process is slower, although quite effective.
In a consultation, we'll discuss which option is best suited to you. In fact, there are times when we use both options in combination to maximize the effect.

Veneers
Veneers are very thin shells of porcelain that attach to the front of teeth to improve the overall appearance of teeth that are worn, chipped, misaligned, stained, or otherwise discolored. Porcelain veneers are basically very thin "false fronts" for your teeth. They are custom created based on a mold of your mouth and teeth, then they are attached to your teeth using a high-strength dental bonding agent. The new porcelain veneer will look quite natural and white. Porcelain veneers are very strong, and they are very adept at resisting staining.
The procedure generally is done in two visits: the first to lightly prepare the teeth and make the impressions, and the second to apply the custom created veneers. A third visit is also usually scheduled a week after the procedure to evaluate the placement, perform minor adjustments, and answer any questions you may have. Our on-site laboratory technicians help customize each and every case, thus achieving the most esthetic and natural outcome.
Crowns and bridges

Dental crowns, also known as “caps,” preserve broken down or damaged teeth. Crowns may be used to protect a cracked tooth, restore a tooth with excessive decay, or replace a pre-existing crown. The two basics types of crowns are conventional metal-ceramic crowns and all-ceramic crowns that are customized to your mouth. In some situations, the use of all-metal crowns could offer better protection for a weakened tooth.
Dental bridges are used to replace one or multiple missing teeth. There are several types of fixed (cannot be removed) bridges. These include conventional fixed bridges and resin-bonded bridges.
a dental bridge will involve the teeth adjacent to the missing one(s). Therefore, dental implants are used sometimes instead, so as not to involve the neighboring teeth.
Dentures
If you have lost some or all of your teeth, dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health.
Without teeth, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. There are various types of dentures. A partial denture is a removable dental appliance that replaces multiple missing teeth. It can be attached to the teeth with metal clasps or it can be attached by dental implants. Dental implants make your smile look great because they eliminate the metal clasp look. The second type is a complete removable denture. Dental implants can also be used to keep the complete dentures stable, which will provide you with confidence and comfort.
TMJ Disorder
TMD stands for temporomandibular joint disorder. The disorder is used to describe a number of ailments associated with the joints that attach the jaw to the skull. Research has not yet isolated the cause of TMD, it has been associated with grinding and clenching of teeth, and also due to arthritis.
Symptoms of TMD include: pain and/or inflammation and swelling in the jaw joint and surrounding tissues, including the ear. They also include jaw locking open or closed with limited mouth opening, and headaches, facial, neck or shoulder pain
Sometimes TMD problems will resolve themselves without treatment and minor cases respond to over the counter anti-inflammatory medication. Although there currently is no known medication-type cure for TMD, anti-inflammatory medications are typically prescribed by doctors. We offer treatment options to help manage TMD and reduce the associated etiologies and pain that can accompany cases of TMD. Typically, these treatment options include working with patients to eliminate the factors that contribute to TMD pain, including using custom-fitted mouth devices to help the patient bite correctly, especially during sleep. As a final approach, oral surgery may also be an option. TMD-related surgery typically will involve manipulating and cleaning out the joint, allowing for more fluid movement, and hopefully eliminating related pain and swelling.
Snoring Appliances
Vibrations of the soft tissues in the mouth and throat result in snoring. Custom Dental device worn at night that moves the lower jaw forward may increase the space in the airway tube. Increasing the capacity of the airway helps to eliminate snoring.
